A TEMPLATE FOR YOUR RUNBOOK

Check the evidence.
Record the outcome.

Completion means you reviewed the task and recorded exceptions in your operational system. This page does not inspect a server or verify its health.

Cadence is a starting point

Daily, weekly and monthly lists are separate review templates, not a complete maintenance schedule. Define backup frequency, integrity checks, restore drills and alert thresholds from your RPO, RTO, database size and maintenance windows. Nonproduction environments may still contain sensitive data and need recoverability.

Recoverability needs a restore

Successful backup jobs and RESTORE VERIFYONLY do not replace restoring backups to an isolated test system. Exercise the required full, differential and log chain, check restored database integrity and measure recovery time.

Review before changing

Performance tasks ask you to investigate evidence. They do not prescribe routine index rebuilds, blanket statistics updates or clearing caches. Security and failover changes belong in approved change procedures.
